"NAME PHIL'S CAR"
And You Might Just Win!

That's right! It's another Altered States Magazine contest!

I just bought a new car in early December. I used to have a 1991 Chrysler LeBaron Convertible, and I started to develop the beginnings of a character called "Raggtopp" based on it. (If you don't know what a "rag top" is, please don't tell me, because I'll feel really old....)

Sadly, the car died. Transmission, engine, battery, air conditioning -- all needed to be replaced.

So I bought a new car (see specs below) to replace the convertible.

While I never called my convertible by a name, I thought it'd be a fun contest for you readers to see if you could come up with a name for my new car. There's no guarantee that I'll actually use the name for it, but you never know.

HOW TO ENTER

I need at the bare mininum a name and profile. It doesn't have to be in the expanded TransFormers Universe style; a simple tech spec profile will suffice.

However, the more creative you are and the more descriptive you are, the better the chances of getting your idea across are. If you want to give a detailed description of the alternate modes, fine! If you want to draw the robot, feel free! If you want to create tech specs, go right ahead! Feel free to use the Online Tech Specs Creator to assist you.

E-Mail the profile in either TEXT or HTML format plus any graphics you may have created -- or if you put the entire profile online, E-mail the URL -- to asm_contest@skyjammer.com with the subject of "Name Phil's Car".

All entries MUST be received by Sunday, August 15, 11:59pm EDT. Please read the Contest Rules before submitting.

WHAT DO I WIN?

Well, the Grand Prize Winner plus Runner-Ups will have their entire profile featured in a future issue of Altered States Magazine. I'll try to get at least the names of all entrants and their creations listed as well.

But that's not all! The winner of this contest will receive a Wal-Mart Special Edition Rattrap! I have already purchased this toy, so be assured that it is real! And it could be YOURS!

The Altered States Magazine ("ASM") "Name Phil's Car" Contest ("Contest Two") 
commences at 12:00 EDT on Monday, July 5, 1999 and ends at 11:59pm EDT on 
Sunday, August 1, 1999 ("Contest Two Period").  Contest Two is sponsored by 
ASM.  By participating, entrants agree to abide by these Official Rules. 

Eligibility:  Contest Two is offered only electronically via the Internet and 
is open to legal residents of the United States and Canada for the duration 
of Contest Two.  All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. 

To Enter:  Send a name and profile that you believe best fits the Black 1996 
Pontiac Grand Am ("Car") to asm_contest@skyjammer.com.  You may also send 
more items that better describe your character, including, but not limited to, 
in-depth character profile, tech specs, pictures.  All entries must be sent in 
English.  Each entry must be accompanied by the entrant's name and current 
E-mail address.  Limit three separate names/profiles per person or E-mail 
address.  If more than three entries are received from any single person or 
E-mail address, only the first three will be used, and subsequent entries 
will be disqualified. 

By accepting a prize, winner releases ASM, its subsidiaries and affiliated 
companies and/or persons, its advertising and promotion agencies, and their 
respective officers, directors, agents and employees, from any and all 
liability, loss or damage incurred with respect to the awarding, receipt, 
possession and/or use or misuse of any merchandise or prize and acknowledge 
that said parties have neither made nor are in any manner responsible or 
liable for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, expressed or implied, 
in fact or in law, relative to any prize, including, but not limited to, its 
quality, mechanical condition or fitness for a particular purpose.  All taxes 
on prize are the responsibility of the winner.  Sponsor reserves the right in

Contest Two should virus, bugs or other causes beyond the control of the 
sponsor corrupt the administration, security or proper play of Contest Two.  
Participants entering through the Web must provide a valid email address.  
Sponsor is not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry information, 
whether caused by Internet users or by any of the equipment or programming 
associated with or utilized in Contest Two or by any technical or human error 
which may occur in the processing of the entries of Contest Two.  Sponsor is 
not responsible for lost, late, illegible, incomplete, mutilated, or 
misdirected entries, nor is sponsor responsible for computer system, phone 
lines, hardware, software or program malfunctions, or other errors, failures, 
or delays in computer transmissions or network connections that are human or 
technical in nature.  ASM reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to 
disqualify any individual found tampering with Contest Two.  All entries 
remain the property of the entrant.  Philip N. Zeman is not obligated to 
officially use the winning name as the official name for the Car.  Persons 
who are involved with ASM on a regular basis or have work published in ASM 
within the past three (3) months are ineligble to win.
  
Drawing:  Entries will be judged as they are received.  One entry will be 
considered the top entry ("Leader").  If a future entry is judged to be 
better than the Leader, it shall replace it as the new Leader until Contest 
Two Period is over.  This Leader will then be declared the winner ("Winner").  
The Winner will receive one (1) Wal-Mart Exclusive Rattrap toy.  The Winner 
will be determined before the next issue of ASM is published.  The decisions 
of ASM are final and binding in all matters relating to Contest Two.  The 
Winner will be notified by e-mail at which time ASM will request the Winner's 
mailing address.  An individual may not win more than one contest per issue 
and not more than once in a six-month period.

General Conditions:  This drawing is governed by U.S. law.  Prize winners must 
claim their prizes by E-mail notification within five days after receipt of 
prize notification.  Prize winner may be required to sign and return an 
Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability Release within 10 days of notification. 
If a selected winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim a prize 
or fails to return any Affidavit or Eligibility and Liability Release (if 
required), the selected winner will forfeit her/his prize and an alternate 
winner will be selected from previous Leaders.  If a prize is won by a minor, 
the prize will be awarded to the parent or legal guardian. 

Internet:  If for any reason the Internet portion of the program is not capable 
of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, 
unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond 
the control of ASM which corrupt or affect the administration, security, 
fairness, integrity or proper conduct of Contest Two, ASM reserves the 
right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the 
entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend Contest Two.  ASM 
assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, 
defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft 
or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries.  ASM is 
not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone 
network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer 
equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by ASM on 
account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at 
any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to 
participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from 
participation or downloading any materials in this contest.  CAUTION: ANY 
ATTEMPT BY ANY PERSON TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE 
LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE SWEEPSTAKE IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL

Winners List:  The Winner's first name, last initial, city, and state will be 
printed in a future issue of ASM.  The Winner's E-mail address will be
